Committed Industry

Cádiz Free Trade Zone, sustainable zone, committed zone

The Consortium is giving a new seal to its management based on the promotion of the Blue Economy, renewable energies and sustainable mobility, in line with the Agenda 20-30 of the Government of Spain and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz is reinventing itself as a model of sustainable industry. The Cádiz Consortium has made a 180-degree turn in its way of promoting productive spaces in the province of Cádiz. The objective is to materialize this change and develop a responsible industry model committed to the environment in all its equipment, print a seal of sustainability and optimize its facilities, adapting them to a new way of doing industry, promoting renewable energy, mobility sustainable and promoting the green and blue economy.

And it is in the city of Cádiz, embryo and nerve center of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, where various actions have already begun that are gradually reflecting this change, both in the Fiscal Area itself - with its customs and fiscal advantages to the operations linked to foreign trade – such as in the Exterior Campus, the area with the most future projection of the city and in which the Consortium promotes the Incubazul Technological incubator, within the framework of the Cádiz Base Zone project.

In this way, we are working to configure a modern, self-sufficient, innovative industrial area committed to the future of the city, which attracts companies that grow and consolidate from the parameters of generating a respectful and less polluting economic activity, based on the economy. circular and in the commitment to renewable energies, from a more sustainable perspective and that in turn generates new business opportunities for future

Comprehensive improvement plan for the Cádiz Tax Precinct

On the one hand, within the Fiscal Precinct, which has an area of 480,000 m2, the Free Trade Zone is completing a “Comprehensive improvement plan” to optimize the facilities, modernizing them and adapting them to sustainability criteria. With an initial investment of 1.5 million euros, this plan is a fundamental part of the change of model since it has contemplated actions that have updated the electrical and hydraulic infrastructures, to improve.

These actions aim to offer quality equipment to operators and include modernization of infrastructure, changes in mobility - with the acquisition of eco-efficient vehicles for the renewal of the mobile fleet -, implementation of clean energy and the installation of electric charging stations for customers and employees.

Along these lines, the plan includes the generation of new parking spaces for tourism and bicycles in order to complement the connections with the city's bike lane, thus facilitating its use for workers and clients.

Solar Free Zone

An important milestone among all these measures will be the project to install solar panels on the roofs of industrial equipment for self-consumption, with the consequent economic savings and care for the environment. This action is going to be put into march in a phased manner, with a first pilot project planned, which will be followed by new phases until the placement of the more than 7,000 photovoltaic panels, on a total area of 178,429 m2 and an estimated production of 7,169,480 KW.

Green and Blue Economy

On the other side of the fence that makes up the Cádiz Tax Precinct, in the Exterior Precinct of Cádiz the development of the Base Zone project will be essential, a reference center, a model to follow and a new way of doing and living the workplace, that from the heart of the industrial zone of Cádiz will be projected to the rest of the city. The original and innovative design of the building will be an example of sustainability since the equipment will be made up of recycled maritime containers, which usually have a useful life of 10 to 15 years.

It must also be taken into account that the Base Zone project includes the Incubazul technological incubator intended for projects linked to the Blue Economy sector, which is subsidized with European funds within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2014-2020, “A way of make Europe” and whose design is already a look at the future. It is a new building concept that enhances joint work thanks to the versatility in the distribution, the generosity in the common areas and its concept open to the outside, with terraces on all floors, in addition to the use of light and the use of the sun. speeding up energy efficiency in all areas.

And precisely the highly innovative incubator Incubazul champions the change that the Cádiz Consortium is leading, which abandons the concept of an industry linked to coal and gray, for a responsible industry that is dyed blue and green.

The incubator aims to bring to light projects and ideas linked to the blue economy so that they germinate, consolidate and become viable companies, all within the framework of sustainability and respect for the environment. Incubazul, which is fully operational in the facilities of the Europa Building, was created to identify the best innovative ideas in the sustainability of the seas and accompany and develop them until they become a reality.

Experts say that this is a key sector for the future of a green planet in a world in which more than 70% of the surface is occupied by seas, oceans and rivers. In Cádiz, in its Free Trade Zone, there is a conviction that these natural assets are engines of growth and innovation for sustainable and profitable economic development and that we must take advantage, in a respectful and responsible manner, of what nature so generously provides.

Furthermore, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is implementing a new way of understanding productive spaces in the rest of its facilities throughout the province, projecting these criteria of sustainability and respect for the environment on them as well. Thus, it is carrying out a powerful improvement and adaptation of its spaces to offer facilities that respond to the needs of potential investors.

All of these actions are part of a new industrial model that is more committed and responsible to the environment, which is fully in line with the objective for which the Cádiz Free Trade Zone was created more than nine decades ago: the promotion of economic activity in its area of influence, creating optimal conditions so that companies have everything they need to start their activity, grow and consolidate. The Consortium has a wide range of services and equipment, which are already being developed with sustainability criteria, in an unbeatable location in the province of Cádiz, which has the best natural resources for the development of renewable energies such as wind, solar and the use of marine resources. A short and medium term future that makes the province of Cádiz a great space of opportunity.
